Pink Swirl Breast Cancer Awareness Cookies

        So yesterday, I wanted to make cookies. Well, this month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and so I decided to make cookies that supported the cure for Breast Cancer. In fact, for this month, I am turning my blog pink! So, I made Pink Swirl cookies. I also added pink sprinkles on top of them and little Breast Cancer ribbon sprinkles too. They taste soo good and have a good cause. I pretty much used the exact same recipe as my “Jumbo Sugar Cookies” but these have a different process as how to make them. My brothers friend came to our house today, and my brother told me that his friend kept eating the cookies and said they were “sooo good!”. I came home and most of the cookies had dissapeared! I hope you love them!!!!!!!
 
Yield- 12 swirl cookies

 
Ingredients-2 cups of all-purpose flour

1/3 cup of butter
1 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
1 large egg
3 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1/8 teaspoon of salt

2 drops of red extract



2. Using your hands, knead the dough and form it into a ball. Then, split the ball in half so you will have 2 seperate cookie dough balls. Wrap one ball in plastic wrap and place it in the freezer.



3. Place the other dough ball in a small bowl. Add in 2 little drops of red food coloring and (using a hand mixer) mix the dough untill it has fully turned into a pink color. Wrap the dough ball in plastic wrap and place it in the freezer (with the other dough ball) for 15-20 minutes.

4. After the dough has been in the freezer for 15-20 minutes, take it out and put it on a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough into a rectangle and carefully place it on a piece of parchment paper. Dont roll the dough too thin or else it will break!!

5. Take out the pink dough ball and place it on a lightly floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle the same size as the other dough. Be careful not to roll it too thin!

6. Place the pink cookie dough on top of the regular cookie dough. Roll them together at the width of the rectangle. Make sure that you roll it really tight, or else it will come apart!

7. Trim the ends of the roll that are sticking out. (You can roll together the extra dough and using cookie cutters, cut out extra cookies.)
8. Wrap the cookie dough roll in plastic wrap. Wrap it tightly and place the roll into the freezer for 10-15minutes.

9. Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees. Take the roll out of the freezer and cut the roll at 1/4-1/2 inch thick slices. Place them onto parchment paper (you can add sprinkles at this time). Bake the cookies for 15-18 minutes. (I like to put bigger sprinkles on the cookies after 9 minutes in the oven while they are baking)
10. Once the cookies have finished baking. place them onto a cooling rack. Let the cookies cool for at least 5 minutes and enjoy!!!
